The Upgrade That Pays For Itself

A free trial is for kicking the tyres. Pro is where Billify actually starts doing work for you — a ledger that’s permanently yours, up to five separate businesses if you need them, invoices that report their own status, and a referral programme generous enough that a chunk of people barely pay full price. Here’s the honest rundown of what you get, tier by tier.

Quick take

  • Pro Personal (£3.99/mo, 7-day trial): one household ledger — bills, income, leftover, savings pots, and an arrears plan you can actually keep.
  • Pro Business (£12.99/mo, no trial): everything in Personal, plus up to five separate business ledgers, each with its own leftover.
  • Invoicing lives on Pro Business — branded, sent by email, tracked automatically from real timestamps, not a status you set.
  • Refer one paying friend a month and the free days you earn can outpace the bill.
  • No bank connection at either tier. Pro does more with what you type in — it doesn’t ask for more access.
01

Pro Personal: the same ledger, permanently yours

The demo shows you the shape of things with sample data that resets the moment you leave. Pro Personal is that same dashboard — bills, income, leftover, savings — saved to your account and updated the moment something changes, for £3.99 a month or £39.90 a year (two months free), with a 7-day trial to see if it fits.

It also adds the two things a plain ledger doesn’t have: savings pots you can fund from this month or money you already hold, and arrears pots — a payment plan for a debt you’re actively working down, rather than just another line item lost among your bills.

Payday-to-payday and calendar views, light or dark, and an export you can run any time round it out. Nothing here needs your bank login — it’s still just what you type in, with more shape put around it.

02

Pro Business: up to five ledgers that never mix

Pro Business is £12.99 a month (or £129 a year), and it starts from everything in Pro Personal for your household. On top of that, it adds up to five separate business ledgers, each with its own bills, income, and leftover.

The point isn’t just “more ledgers” — it’s that home and work never share a picture. Ask “is the business actually profitable this month?” and there’s a real, uncontaminated number to answer with, not a personal-and-business blend you have to untangle first. Switch between accounts from the nav, and cancel any time.

There’s no trial on Business, which is deliberate: it’s aimed at people already running something, not people testing the idea of one.

03

Invoicing that reports its own status

Every business ledger on Pro Business can raise invoices — pick a theme, add your logo, list what’s owed, and send it by email straight from Billify. From there it tracks itself: sent, viewed the moment your client opens the link, and flagged for confirmation the moment they say they’ve paid. Nothing here is a status you set by hand.

A public link means the client doesn’t need an account or a login to see it, pay it, or tell you they have. You just get to watch it move, and confirm the last step yourself before it lands in your income. (There’s a full guide to exactly how this works if you want the details.)

04

The referral math

Invite a friend with your personal link. If they upgrade to a paid plan — not just the trial — you get 30 extra days added to your Pro Personal subscription, stacking on top of whatever you’ve already got. Their trial running doesn’t trigger it; their first paid invoice does.

Do that roughly once a month and the days you’re earning start running ahead of the days you’re being billed for. It’s not a lifetime grant you unlock once — it’s a rolling credit that, kept up, can leave you effectively not paying for Pro Personal at all. One caveat worth knowing: the reward tops up Pro Personal specifically, so it isn’t part of a Pro Business subscription.

05

Which one you actually need

If it’s just your household — rent, subscriptions, savings, maybe a debt you’re paying down — Pro Personal covers all of it, and the trial is long enough to know for sure. If you invoice anyone at all, even occasionally, or run so much as a small side business through your personal account, Business earns its price back the first time it saves you from untangling the books at tax time.

Either way, the pitch is the same one Billify makes everywhere else: no bank connection, no transaction feed, just a ledger that does more of the counting for you than a spreadsheet ever will.
